Mihajlovic: "Little Schengen" for the future and for people to stay in the region

Little Schengen is an initiative aimed at economic integration in the region. We cannot bring the past back, but we need to think about the future, and that is a better life for our citizens," said Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, prof. Zorana Mihajlovic PhD.

Asked to comment on various views on Little Schengen, Mihajlovic said that despite various reflections and criticisms, this initiative has generated a lot of interest, as no country in the region has a greater interest in ensuring that citizens stay in their countries and live better and with a greater life quality.

“It is important to ensure faster flow of goods and people and to make border crossings faster and more efficient. It is not enough to invest in highways, rail and water corridors if our crossings are not well organized. The ministry I lead will work with colleagues from other countries to establish a regional tag for high-speed vehicles on the highways in the region, and we will contribute to make crossings at border crossings faster,” said Mihajlovic.
