The project was contracted pursuant to the Agreement on Economic and Technical Cooperation in the Field of Infrastructure between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the People’s Republic of China, with direct contracting based on an intergovernmental agreement.
To improve railway traffic within the City of Belgrade and thereby enhance passenger mobility to and from Nikola Tesla Airport, the National Stadium, and EXPO 2027, as well as for residents of suburban municipalities traveling to the city center, it is necessary to proceed with the construction of the Zemun Polje – Nikola Tesla Airport – National Stadium railway line.
Construction is underway on the first structure, a bridge at km 0+863, which will span the high-speed Belgrade – Novi Sad railway near the Zemun Polje station. Additionally, works are being carried out along the railway route, including the bridge at km 6+623, preparatory works on the bridge crossing the expressway at km 7+640, the viaduct at km 14+500, and other engineering structures.
The total value of this project according to the contract amounts to 188.1 million euros.

Budget of the Republic of Serbia
The total length of the railway is 18.3 km, namely: from the official station Zemunsko Polje to the Singidunum stop - 7.1 km, from the Singidunum stop to the Nikola Tesla Airport stop - 3.7 km, from the Nikola Tesla Airport stop to the Surčin stop - 3.1 km, from the Surčin stop to the National Stadium station - 3.8 km. The designed speed of the railway is up to 120 km/h. The railway will be regional, double-tracked, electrified, and equipped with modern signaling and traffic control systems. Within the Zemun Polje – Nikola Tesla Airport – National Stadium railway line, seven engineering structures will be constructed: three bridges, two underpasses, and two overpasses.
