The state road IA category route on the Belgrade (Ovča) – Zrenjanin – Novi Sad corridor serves as a branch of Serbia’s primary road network. The highway represents the main north-south connection, linking Vojvodina and Belgrade, as well as the central and northern parts of Serbia. The continuation of this state road north of Zrenjanin toward Novi Sad represents an important connection to the international E75 route.
Preparatory works are underway. Physical completion is approximately 5%. In addition, the preparation and finalization of contractual documents, including annexes to the framework commercial agreement, are in progress to outline the project phases, their timelines, costs, and related specifics.
Estimated value: €1,596,350,000
The project is financed by funds from the budget of the Republic of Serbia and loans from domestic banks.
The total length of the Belgrade – Zrenjanin – Novi Sad highway is 105.4 km (the last 5.5 km is an expressway) and is divided into the following sections: Section 1: Belgrade (Ovča) – Zrenjanin, with a length of 67.66 km; Section 2: Zrenjanin – Novi Sad, with a length of 37.74 km, and the project also includes the planned construction of a parallel non-commercial road approximately 25 km long. The project entails constructing the complete highway profile with road structures and grade-separated intersections between Ovča and Zrenjanin, and between Zrenjanin and Novi Sad, along with 5.5 km of expressway in the Novi Sad area (from the toll plaza—of the frontal type—just before the “Kać” interchange to the “Novi Sad East” interchange) and a parallel non-commercial road. The planned route includes: 4 major bridges (2 over the Tamiš River, 1 over the Begej River, and 1 over the Tisa River); 4 additional bridges over canals, road passages, and railway crossings; 20 overpasses, 7 underpasses, and 47 culverts;and 7 interchanges, specifically: Ovča, Glogonj/Jabuka, Kovačica, Orlovat, Ečka, Zrenjanin West, Žabalj, and connection to the existing Novi Sad interchange.
