The planned bridge over the Danube near Bačka Palanka forms part of State Road IB category-19 (M-18), providing a connection to State Road No. 12, which runs from Neštin through Erdevik and Kuzmin to the state border with Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Sremska Rača border crossing. The project encompasses the central span of the bridge over the navigable channel of the Danube, as well as the approach sections on both the Bačka and Srem sides.
The total length of the designed section is 3,352.23 meters, while the planned bridge itself will span 1,856.04 meters. The bridge is divided into three main sections: the Bačka Palanka approach viaduct, the main bridge, and the Neštin approach viaduct. The bridge will feature two traffic lanes and two pedestrian walkways, with a combined width of 12 meters.
Once completed, the bridge will provide the shortest and most direct connection for villages located on the right bank of the Danube to the Bačka region. It will link Bačka Palanka with Neštin, Erdevik, Kuzmin, and the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This construction will address a longstanding accessibility challenge for residents of Neštin, Vizić, and other villages on the right bank of the Danube. Currently, residents must travel 10 kilometers to reach Bačka Palanka, crossing four border points along the way. The bridge will significantly simplify local travel, enhance connectivity, and support regional development.
The entire bridge is situated within the territory of the Republic of Serbia.
